:::: Maserati Museum in Modena, by Future Systems ::::
Future System's Maserati Museum is due for completion in 2009. The museum nestles in the grounds of the turn of the century Enzo Ferrari house in Modena, a submerged, soft blue form appearing to grow out of the surrounding landscape. The house being modest in scale has determined the height of the museum. A vast wall of curved, inclined glass draws you into the space, the curved plane bisected by fins inspired by the radiator of a Maserati. North facing roof lights flood the interior volume with diffused white light. Inside the walls and floor of the museum, rectangular in plan, forms a basin, finished in fine white terrazzo. This strong and embracing space provides the perfect environment in which to display the achievement and finesse of the Maserati collection.
United Nude is the new brand made by the mediatic genius (also architect:P) of Rem Koolhaas! United Nude launched in 2003 with the Mobius shoe. Since then, United Nude has established itself as an iconic brand at the intersection of fashion and design. Within a limited range of design concepts, United Nude invents many clear variations. An audience of United Nude lovers has been created, simply by triggering people's imaginations. United nude products are about clear concept, elegance and innovation. New ways of constructing and new materials enforce the identity of the brand. UN worldwide Started by Rem D Koolhaas and Galahad Clark, United Nude has grown into a worldwide team of creative minds. With studios in London (UK) and Guangzhou (China), United Nude has become part of a creative collective, functioning as a hub of interaction between architects, fashion designers, magazine editors and photographers.
After the building of Frank O.Gehry, the Maggie's Foundation has built a new centre for cancer research, designed by Zaha Hadid. The concept model suggests fair-faced concrete a la Vitra but in fact the building iscloaked in black. This also features at her recent Ordrupsgaard Museum in Denmark but here is more extensive and poignant. The darkness felt quite sombre even in the late afternoon sun, almost the antithesis of warm wooden interiors. aha Hadid is not known for organic plans and warm wooden interiors, thus Kirkcaldy will present another twist on the journey for the Maggies Centre lineage. The designs show an acutely angular building complete with powerful sculptural cantilevers: conceptually the building could be read as an upside down triangle but really it is simply a series of acute folds enclosing space.

High fashion + modern architecture = MOCA's latest exhibit
This exhibition explores the common visual and intellectual principles that underlie both fashion and architecture. Both disciplines start with the human body and expand on ideas of space and movement, serving as outward expressions of personal, political, and cultural identity. Architects and fashion designers produce environments defined through spatial awareness—the structures they create are based on volume, function, proportion, and material. Presenting the work of international fashion designers and architects, the exhibition examines themes such as shelter, identity, tectonic strategies, creative process, and parallel stylistic tendencies including deconstruction and minimalism. The exhibition is curated by MOCA Curator of Architecture & Design Brooke Hodge and is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue.
